“Jesus, Jack, calm down,” June said with a slight laugh, rolling her eyes at the nearly-giddy man next to her. She’d sat with him on the train for a whole hour and a half, listening to him go on and on about how excited he was to introduce her to his boyfriend, how wonderful he was and how hot and charming and funny he was and blah blah blah blah.
She… was happy for him. She was, she really was-- Jack deserved to be happy, he deserved the best. But she was apprehensive. She didn’t know what kind of guy Jack would go for, if he’d live up to her expectations for him, if he’d be good enough for Jack.
June was nervous. And she didn’t want Jack getting his heart broken.
The blond in question practically leaped to his feet as the train slowed, and was the first one in line at the door to get out. He pulled June though the crowd, making both of them laugh, and they held hands as they pushed through the throng of people heading upstairs. After a relatively short walk, Jack and June arrived in the main hall, standing on a marble floor beneath a turquoise-painted sky.
“He should be here somewhere, he said he was waiting,” Jack said anxiously, looking around rather desperately for his boyfriend.
